Scientific Research

Scientific research is a very large category covering the science of photobiomodulation (PBM) or light therapy. With respect to PBM, scientific research is a very specific category. It offers up to date studies of light therapy, or PBM. More specifically, this category includes research on the effects of PBM in its various forms. Thus, such forms of light therapy include transcranial photobiomodulation (tPBM), intranasal photobiomodulation (iPBM), combination of both tPBM and iPBM, and other forms of applications of PBM.

Furthermore, the focus of the scientific research category is mostly on peer-reviewed articles in reputable scientific publications. Such publications provide the latest and the most substantiated information about PBM. They offer a good insight in the current state of research into PBM, including applications, efficacy and delivery.

The field of PBM has been attracting more and more bright minds of science, garnering interest for a number of applications. Consequently, scientific research of this exciting field is growing. A significant body of works on PBM has been produced and published annually. Thus, the science of photobiomodulation is gaining support. The studies of light therapy are dating well over half a century back.

All the vielight.com articles which have strong scientific basis behind them will be a part of this important category. As the body of scientific research in PBM is growing, so will the body of articles in this category.

Vielight Commences COVID-19 Clinical Trial in USA and Ontario

Finally, Vielight is ready to commence its clinical trial for COVID-19. The recruitment of subjects for this trial has started in the USA and in Ontario, Canada. Readers may recall our intention to test the efficacy of our X-Plus device on COVID-19 in April 2020. After five months of intensive preparation by our team of [...]

Intranasal Photobiomodulation: Basic Principles

Role of Creative Discovery and Chance, and iPBM Before delving into a seemingly esoteric subject of intranasal photobiomodulation (iPBM), it makes sense to acknowledge the process of creative discovery. Every invention started with an idea. Some ideas were products of lucky accidents, leading to a discovery. Ultimately, a few happy flukes ended up spearheading innovations, [...]

Intranasal Photobiomodulation Effects: Systemic Nature and Free-Floating Mitochondria

New Study Explains Vielight’s Full-Body Internal Effects from Intranasal Photobiomodulation. How does light energy from a Vielight intranasal device positioned inside the nose affect the inner systems? This concept could seem unbelievable to the uninitiated. However, those who have used the Vielight red light intranasal devices recognize (and have reported) these full-body effects. Many users [...]

Brain Stimulation with Light Energy

Brain stimulation is a term that may sound both familiar and distant to many. What about the terms brain stimulation using light energy or non-invasive brain stimulation? How about transcranial photobiomodulation? Often enough you hear words that seem simple to understand, but, somehow, they create a fuzzy aura of vagueness and mystery. This is particularly [...]

Validating Intranasal Pulsed Photobiomodulation

Interim Report Reveals Intranasal Photobiomodulation’s Significant Effect on the Brain Vielight has been closely identified by its intranasal technology. This is where a uniquely designed nasal applicator delivers light of the specific wavelengths in the nasal cavity. The patent for this technology was granted to Dr. Lew Lim, the Founder and CEO of the company. [...]

Can Light Penetrate the Skull?

“Can light penetrate the skull and reach the brain?”, is a common question that skeptics and scientists share. Thankfully, current research indicates that light energy can reach the brain, and this depends on several variables - such as wavelength and power density. As such, this article will attempt to clarify the mechanisms that play a [...]

Photobiomodulation Creates Multi-factorial Pathways

"One Intervention, Multi-factorial Pathways", A Theory of Why PBM Could Work for Alzheimer's In the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease, to date, no medication has succeeded in modifying Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).  Some AD medications approved by the FDA before 2003 were somewhat helpful for some patients for about 6 months. Recently, we informed our readers of [...]
